The Denver Broncos have moved on from head coach Vic Fangio. Which of the team’s 9 interview candidates are most likely to get the job?
The Denver Broncos moved on from head coach Vic Fangio after three seasons and 30 losses. Although Fangio certainly brought his defensive expertise to Denver, the team wasn’t able to get over the hump offensively and, frankly, was a complete failure on that side of the ball under Fangio’s watch.
The Broncos and general manager George Paton have lined up nine potential interviews, depending on how many of the candidates actually wind up accepting the team’s invitation.
For the time being, the Broncos’ candidate list is as follows (in no particular order):
- Dan Quinn, DC, Cowboys
- Aaron Glenn, DC, Lions
- Kellen Moore, OC, Cowboys
- Kevin O’Connell, OC, Rams
- Jerod Mayo, LB coach, Patriots
- Nathaniel Hackett, OC, Packers
- Luke Getsy, QB coach, Packers
- Jonathan Gannon, DC, Eagles
- Eric Bieniemy, OC, Chiefs
The Denver Broncos have not made the playoffs since the 2015 season in which they won Super Bowl 50. They have really only come close to the playoffs one year (2016) since that championship, and they have frankly been terrible offensively since 2014.
Something’s got to give in 2022. This will be George Paton’s first head coaching search on his own as the general manager of the team.
At this point in time, the Broncos have yet to actually interview anybody, but which candidates really stand out right now as the best candidates and most likely to get the job?
Let’s try to rank the top three.
