The New York Giants have decided to part ways with head coach Joe Judge. Who could potentially be early candidates to replace him?

The New York Giants have joined the list of teams looking for a new head coach. Not only that, but the Giants are also on the hunt for a new general manager. The team is resetting its brain trust in 2022, and it’s not difficult to see why.

The Giants are not exactly devoid of talent, but they have been miserable to watch the last few seasons with Joe Judge, Pat Shurmur, and Ben McAdoo as their most recent non-interim head coaches.

It has barely been two years since the Giants were last on the hunt for a new head coach. Who should be on the watch list this time around?

Eric Bieniemy, OC, Chiefs

The Giants interviewed Bieniemy last time around and they could do it again. Bieniemy’s shot at a head coaching gig is long past due and the Giants could use an infusion of life into their offense.

Bieniemy gets knocked all the time for not being the primary play-caller in Kansas City but he obviously has something to do with their success.

Don Martindale, DC, Ravens

Wink Martindale was a finalist for the Giants’ job last time around as well, and he’s a veteran coach who has been part of a lot of winning organizations in the NFL.

For the last decade, he’s been coaching up the linebackers and defense in Baltimore, winning a Super Bowl with the team in 2012.

Kellen Moore, OC, Cowboys

The Giants need life in their offense, as I mentioned, and hiring Kellen Moore would accomplish a number of things. First and foremost, the Giants would be stealing a coveted coach from a division rival.

Second, they would be getting the guy in charge of the league’s top-ranked offense.

Sounds like a win to me.

Dan Quinn, DC, Cowboys

Again, in this case, the Giants would be stealing from their division rivals but Quinn would represent some stability at the head coach position, something the Giants desperately need.

He could also help in their potential pursuit of Russell Wilson.

Brian Flores, free agent

Most recently the head coach of the Miami Dolphins, Brian Flores is on the hunt for a new job. While the Giants may be leery of another Patriots disciple who has just been fired for issues with relationships in Miami, Flores did a good job turning that Dolphins team around quickly and he is the primary reason Deshaun Watson wanted to be traded to South Beach.

If Flores is in the fold, could the Giants be frontrunners for Watson (of course, if his legal situation clears)?

Brian Daboll, OC, Bills

Daboll has done a tremendous job with the Buffalo Bills and has proven that continuity can yield positive results in the NFL.

He’s helped develop an offense for Josh Allen to be an absolute star in Buffalo and he deserves a shot to be the top guy somewhere.

Jim Caldwell, free agent

When you talk about coaches that can change culture, Jim Caldwell should be near the top of the list. He’s on the older side, but he’s the only head coach in the Super Bowl era to leave the Detroit Lions with a winning record.

That stands for something.

Doug Pederson, free agent

How many candidates out there won a Super Bowl as a head coach?

Doug Pederson took the year off in 2021 but should be in line for another job in 2022. Could his next job be with a rival of his most recent employer, the Philadelphia Eagles?
