New York Giants HC option no. 2. Josh McDaniels, OC, New England Patriots

Sure, Joe Judge didn’t work out, but whoever the General Manager is for the Giants should dive into the New England Patriots pool one more time. Josh McDaniels isn’t some hotshot new offensive coordinator. He’s been a head coach who didn’t get a chance to see his vision through. With that said, the Giants can give him that chance and benefit from it.

Adaptability is a skill McDaniels has, and the Giants need. As an offensive coordinator, the former head coach has shown the ability to adapt to personnel. As a Patriot, his offense ranges from a spread downfield, air-it-out offense to 12 personnel in a run-heavy offense. Most importantly, he knows how to dial things back for his quarterbacks and adjust. He installed power RPOs when he had Cam Newton but uses a timing-based offense for rookie quarterback Mac Jones.

The Giants could use a jolt offensively from a guy who knows and understands how to win. McDaniels has worked with beloved New York Giants defensive coordinator Pat Graham in New England—maybe he’ll keep him around.

There’s no doubt that New England Patriots’ long-time offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels will get a head coaching job. Why not with the G-Men?
