New York Giants 5 head coach candidates to replace Joe Judge
New York Giants HC option no. 1. Brian Flores, former Miami Dolphins HC
This hire should happen for the G-Men if they want to change the “culture.” In his first year as a head coach, Brian Flores inherited a less than respectable roster. To put things in perspective, Chris Grier (General Manager) stripped the team of several players, including first-round picks; Ryan Tannehill, Laremy Tunsil, and Minkah Fitzpatrick.
Everyone knew the Fins were tanking, leading Mike Golic to blast them for endangering players. Flores took that team to a 5-11 record, going 5-4 after a seven-game skid.
He followed up with two back-to-back winning seasons, which was for the first time that happened for the Fins in 20-years. Flores knows how to keep a locker room together. This past season, after a 1-7 start, he kept the team together through a strong 8-1 finish.
Where did it go wrong in Miami? According to rumors, Grier and Flores fell out after the head coach pressed Grier to bring in Deshaun Watson.
Speaking of Watson, rumor has it, he wanted to come to Miami for Flores. If he’s in New York, the Giants can make it happen. They have more than enough assets to get him. Imagine giving up Saquan Barkley, Daniel Jones, and a first this year and next year for Watson. That’s if all his off-the-field issues are handled.
Patrick Graham is a beloved defensive coordinator who worked with Flores in Miami. I imagine he’d keep Graham on, making a lot of fans very happy. Flores is a 40-year-old leader of men. Not to mention Flores is a New York native and there are rumors of mutual interest — bring him home.
