The Cleveland Browns have said Baker Mayfield is the starter next season, but other teams have said that and moved on. Could he also be on the move? If so, these three teams could be interested.

General manager Andrew Berry and head coach Kevin Stefanski are all saying the right things about Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield. They both have said he will be their starting quarterback in 2022 and that they believe his future is bright.

Of course, those kinds of comments are being said for a reason. That reason is that Baker Mayfield had a frustrating season in 2021. Not only did the Browns finish 8-9 and out of the playoffs, but Mayfield went downhill in a hurry.

There were some injury concerns that could be blamed but the truth is, he’s been up and down throughout his career. Mayfield was solid in 2018 and 2020 but has now put up two rough campaigns in 2019 and 2021.

For that reason, the Browns might be willing to consider moving on – and the “he’s our guy” talk only goes so far, ask Josh Rosen. If they did, these three teams could try and pry him away.

Baker Mayfield trade destination No. 3: Houston Texans

Mayfield is a Texas native and was originally started his collegiate career at Texas Tech before heading to Oklahoma. He also still heads to Austin every offseason. Could that mean he would like to return to his home state to play football?

It’s not that far-fetched of an idea, especially when you realize the Houston Texans could be in the market for an upgrade from Davis Mills.

For Mayfield, the move wouldn’t just mean he could play in his home state but would also play the majority of his games in a dome, which could be a huge plus for him as he works through his accuracy issues.
