Baker Mayfield trade destination No. 1: Washington Football Team

While it’s hard to find much substantial proof, there were whispers that the Washington Football Team was interested in trading their first-round pick in 2022 for Baker Mayfield. If such an offer was made, it might be hard for the Browns to say no.

Mayfield might have been the No. 1 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft but it’s safe to say at this point, his value doesn’t scream Round 1 pick. And if he has another season like the one he did in 2021, that value would be even lower.

Again, there’s not much out there about this but it does make some sense for Washington to be interested. This franchise has been starting Taylor Heinicke who has some talent but hasn’t proven to be the guy. Mayfield, on the other hand, has shown he can win in the postseason and has the kind of superstar allure that Washington has lacked for years.

There are also some decent weapons for him to work with including Terry McLaurin and Antonio Gibson. On top of that, Washington has a good defense with Chase Young and Montez Sweat leading the way on their defensive line.

With the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles putting Washington in the rearview, they may be desperate enough to make such a move in an attempt to once again contend in the NFC East.
