Chiefs add a defensive playmaker in 2022 NFL Mock Draft

29. Kansas City Chiefs: Devin Lloyd, LB, Utah

When the Kansas City Chiefs are brought up, the offense is typically the first thing that comes to mind. That’s understandable when Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, and Tyreek Hill are all part of the offense. But part of what helped them get things back on track in 2021 following a slow start was the play of their defense.

Knowing how important it is to stay strong on this side, they use the 29th pick in this mock on Devin Lloyd from Utah. Entering this season, Lloy appeared to be a day two pick since he was considered just a two-down player. However, he took a step forward in 2021 for the Utes and moves into the back end of Round 1 — and gets to join a very good team in the process.

30. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Roger McCreary, CB, Auburn

The defending NFL champions have had a lot of drama over the past couple of months thanks to Antonio Brown — who (insert shocked face) once again flew off the handle. Tampa Bay is better off without Brown, who is talented but causes too much drama. But they still have to try and figure things out on offense since Chris Godwin is already out due to injury.

As for their defense, there are also concerns when it comes to covering wideouts. That’s why they pick up Roger McCreary from Auburn who could develop into a No. 1 corner.
