Texans begin overhaul in 2022 NFL Mock Draft with star defender

Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. S. Notre Dame. Kyle Hamilton. 3. player. 10

3. Houston Texans: Kyle Hamilton, S, Notre Dame

Surprisingly, the Houston Texans decided to fire David Culley after just one season. While the original hire was one that could be criticized when it was made, it seems harsh to have given him just one season with that roster. Still, that’s the NFL and they’re going to turn the page.

Once on the clock in this mock, they elect to take Notre Dame safety Kyle Hamilton. While their roster is in need of help at just about every position, adding Hamilton could be a good move since he can be so versatile on defense. He can help as a deep safety but also has the coverage skills to come up and play the slot as well.

Houston still needs much more than this to be competitive but adding the best player available at this point is the right move.

4. New York Jets: Derek Stingley, CB, LSU

Another team that needs a whole lot of help is the New York Jets — although they are at least keeping their head coach. They also have two picks in this opening round, one of which will come at No. 4 overall.

They use that selection on LSU cornerback Derek Stingley who is the best at his position. Robert Saleh is a defensive-minded coach and adding a potential shutdown cornerback should help him feel more confident in his game plan.
