7. New York Giants (via Chicago Bears): George Karlaftis, DE, Purdue

They addressed their offensive line at pick No. 5, then took one selection off, and can now address the defensive line. New York has the Chicago Bears Round 1 pick thanks to their trade in the 2021 NFL Draft — where Chicago jumped up for Justin Fields — and they decide to roll with George Karlaftis from Purdue.

In need of a leader on their defensive line, the Giants grab the 6-foot-4, 275-pound Karlaftis. He already has an NFL build and is only going to get better. His ceiling is very high but his floor is also pretty high, which makes him a safe pick.

8. Atlanta Falcons: Garrett Wilson, WR, Ohio State

There are reports that the Atlanta Falcons and Calvin Ridley might each prefer a fresh start. If that ends up being true, the Falcons are going to need a new No. 1 wide receiver, and that’s why they take Garrett Wilson out of Ohio State with the No. 8 pick in this 2022 NFL Mock Draft.

Wilson is one of two OSU stars who should go in the opening round and he edges out teammate Chris Olave for the honors of going first at the position. Either way, there’s no wrong pick but Wilson is slightly more explosive and the Atlanta offense can surely use some of that.
