Las Vegas Raiders Round 5 Pick: Boye Mafe, EDGE, Minnesota

This past season, Las Vegas boasted a really good duo at defensive end. Yannick Ngakpue finished with 10 sacks on the season and Maxx Crosby had five. They also had solid play from Carl Nassib and Clelin Ferrell but they can’t just stay the course. Instead, they need to continue to develop talent which is why they use their first of two picks in Round 5 on Minnesota defensive end Boye Mafe.

In 2021, Mafe had his best campaign with 34 tackles and seven sacks. He could provide the Raiders with another strong pass rusher who can come in and spell their starters.

Las Vegas Raiders Round 5 Pick: Jack Jones, CB, Arizona State

With their next Round 5 pick, Vegas selects ASU cornerback Jack Jones. A former 5-star recruit, Jones played at USC before having to head to Moorpark Junior College following some off-field issues.

He then ended up with ASU where he got his career back on track. Still, he has to overcome his off-field concerns as well as his lack of height (5-foot-9, 171-pounds) to make it in the NFL. The Raiders give him a shot and if he stays on the right path, this could be a solid pick.

With their final pick in this mock, the Las Vegas Raiders pick up Nick Ford from Utah. Ford played all over the line for the Utes, starting at all five positions at least once.

In the NFL, he seems best as a center although his versatility could make him a great reserve at all three interior positions.
