The Chicago Bears continue their search for a general manager and head coach. This past weekend, after watching the Buffalo Bills win their opening playoff game, they welcomed in two people important to that team’s success.

The Chicago Bears continue their search for a new general manager and head coach. Over the past week, they’ve been linked to a laundry list of potential candidates to replace Ryan Pace and Matt Nagy.

The Bears have looked to a number of successful teams to look for those candidates. They’ve also looked internally at some of their own personnel as possible replacements.

There is one team in particular that may have piqued the Bears’ interest — the Buffalo Bills.

The Bills are back-to-back champions of the AFC East. After experiencing so much abuse at the hands of Tom Brady, Bill Belichick, and the rest of the New England Patriots for the better part of two decades, the Bills feel it’s their time now.

Last season, the Bills went all the way to the Western Conference championship game where they took the Kansas City Chiefs to the brink but ultimately fell. This season, they handled the Patriots easily in the Wild Card round. They again face the Chiefs but in the Divisional round.

The Bills were in a similar situation that the Bears are in now. They had to deal with a perennial powerhouse team dominating the division. In 2017, they ended a streak of 17 seasons without making the playoffs. Last season, they ended a 25-year drought when they finally won a playoff game.

After struggling to become a contender, the Bills finally got it. They are contenders and teams around the league fear them.

As a result, some key members who helped do that are now ready to strike on their own. The Bears are one of the teams ready to see if they’re ready to turn Chicago’s fortunes around as well.

The Bears spent this weekend interviewing Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll and assistant general manager Joe Schoen. They also have an interview scheduled with Leslie Frazier later this week.
