Dallas Cowboys FA target No. 2: Jadeveon Clowney, EDGE
A couple of seasons ago, the Cowboys were reportedly trying to sign defensive end Jadeveon Clowney. The problem was, Clowney was being offered one-year deals that weren’t to his liking, so he held out as long as possible.
In the end, he signed with the Tennessee Titans rather than taking a deal with Dallas — or the Cleveland Browns who were reportedly offering him the most money. That year ended up being a frustrating one for the former No. 1 overall pick as he was forced to miss eight games as he went to the IR. He also finished with zero sacks in the games he did play.
Then in 2021, Clowney again hit the open market, and this time he did join Cleveland, where he had a career resurgence. Clowney had 37 tackles and nine sacks, proving to be a stud across from Myles Garrett. His addition also freed Garrett up to record a personal-best 16 sacks.
Again hitting free agency, Dallas should re-spark the conversation with Clowney and his representatives. He would surely be a great option across from DeMarcus Lawrence and they could still use Randy Gregory as well, should they be able to retain him, since both Clowney and Lawrence have the size and strength to move inside on pass-rushing downs.
