Another position that saw a lot of change in 2021 for Dallas was the safety corps. They added Damontae Kazee, Malik Hooker, and Jayron Kearse in free agency and all three played well this season — with Kearse proving to be the big surprise of the bunch.

The problem is, all three signed one-year deals. Surely they want to keep them all but there’s no telling how things will work out. For that reason, they add another piece to the puzzle with the selection of Bryan Cook from Cincinnati.

Cook broke out in 2021 with 96 tackles and two picks — one of which came in their College Football Playoff appearance against Alabama.

Dallas Cowboys Round 6 pick: Danny Gray, WR, SMU

Both Cedrick Wilson and Michael Gallup are free agents this offseason which could make wide receiver a bigger need than expected for Dallas. It’s still not as pressing of a need as some of the other positions that have been addressed thus far — but they still should look for a younger player to develop.

Enter Danny Gray, the former junior college standout who spent his past two seasons at SMU. This past season, he had 49 receptions for 803 yards and nine touchdowns. He also has some experience as a return man.

If they lose Wilson in free agency, this could be a decent replacement.
