Minnesota Vikings: Kirk Cousins

Kirk Cousins is another name that should have an asterisk by it. It’s tough to know with the Vikings what will be happening at the QB position because of the fact that this team is presently without a GM or head coach.

Any team that might want to trade for Cousins will be acquiring his $35 million base salary, which would obviously be a very nice amount for the Vikings and a new GM to clear off the books.

Still, the Vikings are not exactly a rebuilding team. So much of this situation depends on who the Vikings hire as head coach, and how well that coach can work with Cousins.

Cousins has essentially been in the same offense his entire NFL career, so what if someone comes in with a completely different philosophy?

I think even with his massive cap number for 2022, teams around the NFL would be jockeying over the chance to get Cousins. For now, he’s done enough in the last two seasons to lead me to believe even a new GM and new head coach would want him to stick around for 2022 at least.

The big question here is whether or not the Vikings could get substantial value for Cousins and whether the team would view that as more of an asset than having him on the team in 2022.
