Pittsburgh Steelers: Trade for Deshaun Watson

Unlike the Cincinnati Bengals — who have been desperately searching for a franchise QB for decades — the Pittsburgh Steelers have not had to really think about this for the last two decades, at least not for the most part.

Ben Roethlisberger has been the franchise QB for Pittsburgh since 2004, and the team has enjoyed a ton of success since he’s been around.

I think the Steelers are poised to make a big move at QB in 2022, and it wouldn’t shock me to see them get in on the Deshaun Watson trade sweepstakes, depending on how that whole situation goes.

The Steelers have the talent at the skill positions to attract a player like Watson, who has a no-trade clause. The bigger question here is obviously going to be how the league and other teams perceive Watson’s situation and whether it is resolved in the near future or not.

The trade of Watson seems imminent, so it’s just a matter of time before we’re talking about him being part of another NFL club.

The Steelers may not have the ideal draft capital to send back to the Houston Texans in a trade, but this would be a situation where Watson might actually approve a trade.

Given the fact that the Steelers are such a stable organization with an elite coach and leader in Mike Tomlin, this could be a situation that could work out for both parties.
