New Orleans Saints: Jameis Winston + Malik Willis

The New Orleans Saints are seemingly mystified by Taysom Hill, who has proven up to this point that he is not a good quarterback, but a pretty effective gadget player in Sean Payton’s offense.

Life after Drew Brees was anything but a breeze in New Orleans, and this team figures to be active on the quarterback market in 2022.

Will they go with a rookie or a veteran?

I think even coming off of an injury, it seems likely that this team will bring back Jameis Winston for another season. He’s young enough that they can take things year-to-year there, and I also think it would be wise of the Saints to invest in a rookie with some upside.

This year, there is no better spot for that than between picks 25-50, where you might be able to land a player like Malik Willis.

In the top 10 of the Draft, Willis might be a bit of a risk, but the longer he lasts on the board, the more attractive of a value he becomes.

Willis is an elite dual threat at the quarterback position, but his skills as a passer need to be harnessed and developed. That’s where Sean Payton comes in.

The Saints already run the ball quite well, so adding a player like Malik Willis into the fold could give this offense a physical identity on the ground and some explosive potential through the air.
