San Francisco 49ers: Trey Lance

As the 49ers prepare for a road trip to face off against the top-seeded Green Bay Packers, what does the future hold at the quarterback position?

This team put together such an impressive year offensively, it’s hard to imagine a young quarterback being in a better situation than Trey Lance is right now.

Lance has Kyle Shanahan as his head coach. He has Deebo Samuel to get the ball to. George Kittle. Brandon Aiyuk. JaJuan Jennings is also a breakout player for the 49ers. Eli Mitchell was outstanding as a rookie.

The 49ers are pretty well set for the future, aren’t they?

It’s easy to see the path to get Trey Lance as the 49ers’ 2022 starter. San Francisco should be able to get something decent for Jimmy Garoppolo in a trade and as much success as they have had with Garoppolo, this is the reason you drafted Trey Lance.

Unless Garoppolo wins Super Bowl MVP, I think this is the direction things are headed for the 49ers next season, and it’s got to be exciting for their fan base for an athlete like Lance to be stepping into the situation he’s about to inherit.
