If the Denver Broncos end up hiring Dan Quinn as their head coach, these three free agents could follow him from the Dallas Cowboys
As of Wednesday afternoon, the Denver Broncos are still making their way through their head coaching interviews. Their list of candidates has been extensive but an early favorite is Dan Quinn, currently the defensive coordinator for the Dallas Cowboys.
Quinn joined Dallas this season after spending the previous six seasons as the head coach with the Atlanta Falcons. Quinn did nearly win a Super Bowl but was 7-9 in 2018 and 2019 before an 0-5 start in 2020 ended his tenure.
He rebuilt his image this year by turning the Cowboys’ defense into one of the more opportunistic in the NFL. That was enough to get him back in the mix for head coaching jobs and it could be with the Broncos where he gets his second shot.
If that proves to be the case, he could bring some familiar faces with him. Here are three free agents from Dallas that Quinn could add to the Broncos should he join them.
Dallas Cowboys to Denver Broncos option No. 3: Dorance Armstrong, EDGE
A fourth-year veteran, Dorance Armstrong enjoyed more success as a pass rusher under Dan Quinn than he had in his previous three seasons. Armstrong had 2.5 sacks — all of which came in his first two seasons. Then in 2021, he wound up with five sacks.
If that wasn’t enough, he also had a career-high in tackles (37), registered 12 quarterback hits (had just eight coming into the season), and scored his first touchdown on a fumble recovery.
Armstrong broke out at the right time as he’s set for free agency and he could see sticking with Quinn as the best way to maximize his prime.
