Dallas Cowboys to Denver Broncos option No. 1: Randy Gregory, EDGE

To say Randy Gregory took off under Dan Quinn’s coaching wouldn’t truly be fair to the pass rusher from Nebraska. Yes, Gregory finished with a career-high six sacks (which tied his total in 2018) but that had to do more with Gregory than the coach.

For the first six seasons of his career, Gregory battled his own off-field issues to even play the game. He was finally reinstated in 2020 and played 10 games, which allowed him to have a whole offseason to prepare.

He wound up starting 11 games while playing in 12. In addition to his six sacks, he had a personal best 29 quarterback pressures and even recorded his first-ever interception, which he promptly took to the house for a pick-six.

Throughout his journey back to the field, the Cowboys have been incredibly supportive of Gregory and there’s no way they won’t want him back for 2022. However, this is still a business and he earned a payday — and the Broncos could use another pass-rusher opposite Bradley Chubb.

If Quinn is their head coach, it wouldn’t be a shock to see him try and lure Gregory to the Mile High city with him. Quinn was able to move Gregory all over the line and even had him rush from a stand-up role in what he called his ‘designated pass rusher’ position ‚— which was the same thing he did with Vic Beasley back in 2016 when he led the NFL in sacks.
