Denver Broncos player no. 4: Bryce Callahan, CB

Back in the 2019 offseason when the Denver Broncos hired Vic Fangio as the team’s head coach, the pairing of him and cornerback Bryce Callahan was an obvious one.

The Broncos had Chris Harris Jr. slated to play the outside cornerback position in 2019, so Callahan would slide into the nickel spot where he had been extremely effective in Vic Fangio’s defense as sort of the Bears’ version of Harris Jr. — an undrafted player who exceeded all expectations.

Unfortunately, Callahan didn’t play in the 2019 season for the Broncos. He battled with a foot injury all year and we never got to see the Broncos’ plans with both he and Chris Harris Jr. materialize as Harris would bolt in the next offseason for the Los Angeles Chargers.

Callahan would play in 2020 and looked outstanding, playing mostly on the outside for Fangio due to injuries.

He once again got hurt to end the season, however, and came back pretty strong again in 2021.

Injuries are a major concern for Callahan dating back to 2018, but he’s an outstanding player when healthy and someone Vic Fangio really trusts in his defense. I’d be pretty surprised if Callahan didn’t find his way to whatever city Fangio goes next.
