25 Most Disappointing 1 Seeds In NFL Playoff History: 5. 2011 Green Bay Packers

Aaron Rodgers appeared on this list earlier as someone who was playing spoiler, but just one year after winning his first Super Bowl, Rodgers was spoiled in the first round of the playoffs. He ran through the regular season, losing just one game to the Kansas City Chiefs. The Packers looked like one of the most dominant teams of this era. Seven teams in the history of the league won at least 15 games.

The Packers were prolific on offense, with Rodgers putting up some of the best stats we’ve seen from a quarterback. He was so precise in his moves, and he made everyone pay on a weekly basis. The offense was unstoppable, and that’s why they won just about every game.

The Packers are the only team in history to lose one game or less in the regular season and then lose the first game of the playoffs. That is definitely not the kind of history the Packers were looking to make. They went into the playoffs by far the NFL favorites to win the Super Bowl. They couldn’t even make it to the Championship Game.

The New York Giants came into Green Bay, a place they have won before, and they just cut the legs from under the Packers. The last time the Giants went to Green Bay in the playoffs, Tom Coughlin and Eli Manning put together a win on their way to a Super Bowl Championship. History would repeat itself. The Giants used a 17-point fourth quarter to put some separation between Rodgers’s offense, and the team won 36-20.
