With the Browns potentially moving on from their quarterback, here are four potential replacements for Mayfield during the 2022 season.

The Browns have reached a clear crossroads with Baker Mayfield. While he showed a lot of promise as a rookie, his play has regressed to the point where he has become a liability when on the field. With mounting injuries as well, there is a real chance that Cleveland moves on from their once-promising quarterback.

If they do opt to move him, the Browns will certainly need a new face for their team. Thankfully, the roster is pretty well constructed, so a quarterback wouldn’t have to do everything on their own if brought in. Cleveland should favor a safe, established option over a riskier one. With a slew of quarterbacks set to be on the move this offseason, these four seem like good fits. Here are the top four quarterbacks the Browns could replace Mayfield with.

Browns could replace Baker Mayfield with Marcus Mariota

Marcus Mariota is far from a flashy option, as the former second overall pick has been more of a disappointment than anything else during his tenure in the league. While his two-season stint as the backup with the Raiders has been fine, he hasn’t showcased any real development as a player and still possesses a lot of questions.

That said, his style of play would fit well with what the Browns want to do. Considering they have the best running back tandem in the league, having a quarterback that can also do damage on the ground would boost this unit. While not a perfect thrower, Mariota still has a good arm and decent accuracy. In a run-heavy offense, he could play well enough to get this team to the playoffs.

The best aspect going for him would be his cost this offseason. He is set to be a free agent, meaning he won’t have to be traded for. As well, his cost shouldn’t be that extreme either, as most teams view him as a low-end starter at best next season. He would be a cheap fill-in that fits this offense well if Mayfield is moved in 2022.
