Browns could replace Baker Mayfield with Kenny Pickett

The only rookie on this list and for good reason. The Browns are not a team that can afford to wait for a rookie quarterback to develop. While players like Malik Willis and Sam Howell have better arms and potential, they will need at least a season to develop before becoming the starter. Kenny Pickett is a different story, as he is the best pro-ready quarterback in this class even if his ceiling is capped.

What makes Pickett a good fit is his balanced play. He doesn’t force a lot of passes and can attack the short and middle of the field effectively. If Mayfield is traded and the Browns were set on drafting his replacement, Pickett would have to be the favorite. He can start from day one and lead this dynamic offense even as a rookie.

While long-term Pickett likely won’t be an elite quarterback, for a team looking for immediate star power and starter capabilities, Pickett is your guy. He can work well in the Browns run-heavy offense as well, utilizing some play action to open up the intermediate part of the field. While expecting a rookie to start right off the bat is a risk, Pickett appears to be pro-ready and can lead this team that is looking to win now.
