1. Come up with a consistent offensive philosophy

No team gained more total yards and scored more points (530) than Mike McCarthy’s club. The Cowboys finished ninth in the league in rushing and only the Tampa Bay Buccaneers totaled more yards through the air. Coordinator Kellen Moore commanded a unit that produced a gaudy 54 offensive touchdowns – 40 of those through the air. And part of that league-leading point total was nine touchdowns scored by the Dallas defense and special teams.

After starting just five games in 2020, Dak Prescott returned this season and put up some impressive numbers. He hit on 68.8 percent of his throws for 4,449 yards, 37 scores and only 10 interceptions. He ran sparingly, totaling 146 yards and one touchdown on 48 attempts. But there were also 14 fumbles by the six-year pro and he finished the season with 16 total turnovers.

While Dallas’ ground game gained the ninth-most yards in the league (124.6 average), the ground game was inconsistent at best. The Cowboys were held to under 100 yards rushing in all five of their regular-season setbacks as well as the wild card loss to San Francisco.

So is this a running team or a passing team? Moore’s attack was choppy at times.
