Defense reigns supreme in early 2022 NFL Mock Draft

1. Jacksonville Jaguars: Kayvon Thibodeaux, EDGE, Oregon

There’s still no word on who the leader is to be the new head coach for the Jacksonville Jaguars but they have to be in better shape with whoever they hire than they were with Urban Meyer. They could also finally see Trevor Lawrence look like the player he was supposed to be when they took him No. 1 overall last season.

This year, they go with a new face for their defense as they pick Kayvon Thibodeaux from Oregon. As of late, Aidan Hutchinson is gaining steam but Thibodeaux should remain the top player.

2. Detroit Lions: Kyle Hamilton, S, Notre Dame

It’s not often that a safety goes this early in the draft but the Detroit Lions are unable to pass on Kyle Hamilton from Notre Dame — who is considered by many to be the top player overall in this class. Hamilton is capable of lining up all over the defense and would give Dan Campbell a great weapon to help slow down opposing teams.

Detroit was actually close in many of their games this past season and if they can hit on both their draft picks in Round 1, it could go a long way toward turning their franchise around.
