Tom Brady replacement option No. 1: Jimmy Garoppolo

How ideal would it be if Jimmy Garoppolo finally did replace Tom Brady after he retired? Back in 2014, the New England Patriots drafted Garoppolo in the second round of the NFL Draft. The Eastern Illinois product was seen as a potential heir to Brady who was in his late 30s.

Of course, Brady kept on winning and never looked to get older so the Pats traded Jimmy G to the San Francisco 49ers. Currently, Garoppolo and his squad are still alive as they’re set to face the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC Wild Card Game – and if they win, it will be the second trip to the Super Bowl for Garoppolo since being traded to the Niners in 2017.

In all, he boasts a record of 31-14 as San Francisco just wins when Garoppolo is in the lineup. The problem is, he misses a lot of time due to injury and that led to the front office pulling the trigger on Trey Lance with the third overall pick this offseason.

With Lance set to take over in 2022, the expectation is that Garoppolo will be on the move. That could end up with him finally taking the reins from Brady should the Bucs decide to pull the trigger on a deal.

Garoppolo isn’t perfect but he wins and the Bucs have gotten used to that lately, which makes this a move they should consider.
