2022 NFL mock draft – Derek Stingley Jr celebrates after making a tackle as The LSU Tigers take on Central Michigan Chippewas in Tiger Stadium. Saturday, Sept. 18, 2021. /

Pick Analysis. CB. 4. player. Scouting Report. LSU. Derek Stingley. 30

4. New York Jets: Derek Stingley, CB, LSU

Up next is the New York Jets who finished with a record of 4-13 on the season. It was a rough year for rookie head coach Robert Saleh but he knew when he took the job a rebuild was in order.

They started to work toward rebuilding their roster as they had two picks in Round 1 last season which they used to land quarterback Zach Wilson from BYU and offensive tackle Alijah Vera-Tucker from USC. Wilson has some serious growing pains as a rookie but showed some signs of progress as the season went on.

New York also started to see some growth from Elijah Moore as the year went on. Pairing him with Corey Davis should give them a formidable duo and their focus on the offense in 2021 should mean they can try and rebuild the defense for Saleh.

That’s their goal here as they use the No. 4 overall pick in this mock on Derek Stingley from LSU. The top cornerback in this class, Stingley should help them slow down the opposing passing game and in a division with Stefon Diggs, Jaylon Waddle, and Gabriel Davis, this is going to be a very important addition.
