Potential Cap Casualty: A’Shawn Robinson

I’ll be honest when I say there aren’t a lot of good names here. The Rams have one of the better put-together rosters in the league, but they are also extremely up against the cap. With few draft picks to work with and contracts that are hard to get out of, the team may have to cut some valuable players.

The name that seems most likely is A’Shawn Robinson. The defensive lineman has played well for the Rams, but it is hard to justify what he will make when he only plays about 45 percent of the snaps. On the other hand, the Rams can clear up $5.5 million in cap space if he were to be cut. That is money that they desperately need.

The only other name that makes sense is Tyler Higbee here, as he can save a similar amount of cap space if cut. That said, he is a key target in a high-powered offense with no replacement on the roster. Robinson can be moved on from in favor of someone cheaper. The Rams don’t have much of a choice as they need to clear up cap space.
