3 Reasons why the Houston Texans should hire Brian Flores

2. Relationship with Deshaun Watson

Allegations of sexual misconduct hindered the former first-round pick from playing in the 2021 NFL season. However, as the dust settles and Watson’s future becomes clearer, the Texans will want to reconsider adhering to his wish to be traded. They can help their case by hiring Brian Flores.

Flores allegedly wanted Dolphins General Manager Chris Grier to trade for Watson. According to Ian Rappaport, Flores was the main reason Watson considered waiving his no-trade clause.

"“Brian Flores was a significant reason Deshaun Watson wanted to be in Miami. With Flores out, this situation may have changed.”"

Of course, if they hire Flores, they don’t need to worry about trading Watson. He’d likely want to stay. Flores wanted to coach him, and it’s safe to say he’d do everything to help Watson succeed.

As evident, look at what he did with a quarterback whom he wasn’t comfortable within Miami. Despite Tua Tagovailoa’s struggles as a young quarterback. Imagine what he can do if he had a veteran quarterback capable of putting up elite numbers.

Watson was upset with the organization for how they handled… everything. This could be a way to mend fences and get Watson back in their good graces as they move forward into a successful future.
