Disappointing NFL team #4. Seattle Seahawks (7-10)
From 2012-20, Pete Carroll’s club finished with a winning campaign each year and made the playoffs eight times, including the previous three seasons. The Seattle Seahawks won the NFC West a year ago, starting 5-0 and finishing 12-4. But it was one-and-done in the playoffs vs. the rival Rams.
This past season, the club never really found its footing and wound up being the only team in the division not to make the playoffs.
Quarterback Russell Wilson made his NFL debut in 2012. He was a third-round draft choice by the Seattle Seahawks that year and would earn the starting job as a rookie. The talented performer would go on to start every game for the franchise for nine straight years.
That streak ended at 149 consecutive contests this past season. He finished with respectable numbers – throwing for 25 scores and turning the ball over only seven times.
However, the Seattle defense continued to have issues. The team allowed the fifth-most total yards in the league and only the Baltimore Ravens allowed more yards through the air.
The result was the franchise’s first losing campaign since 2011. The Seahawks were just 3-5 at home and a disappointing 4-8 within the conference. But somehow, Carroll’s club scored more points (395) than it allowed (366).
