2022 NFL Free Agency Defense – Secondary

Free safety, Marcus Williams

Marcus Williams is a top-shelf safety who played over 1,000 snaps this season for the Saints.  At just 25 years old, he has his prime right in front of him.  This would be a great addition for the backend of any defense.

Strong safety, Quandre Diggs

There aren’t a lot of strong safety free agents to choose from, but Quandre Diggs is probably the best bet given he isn’t 30 years old yet.  A Diggs/Williams safety duo would be among one of the league’s stronger units.

Cornerback, J.C. Jackson

J.C. Jackson has become one of the league’s most premier cornerbacks.  If New England does not retain him, nearly every team in the NFL should be vying for his services.  He is a lockdown corner.

Cornerback, Stephon Gilmore

I know Gilmore is old, but he’s a former defensive player of the year and still playing at a high level.  Teams looking for secondary help will turn to Gilmore, no matter his age.
