2. New England Patriots NFL Draft target: Jermaine Johnson, Edge, FSU

Talking about a guy who made himself some money at the 2022 Reese’s Senior. Florida State defensive end Jermaine Johnson wowed during Senior Bowl week, and it carried over into the game. He’s a JUCCO transfer who also had a stint at Georgia before transferring to FSU. He has an excellent build that reminds me of Connor Barwin.

The 6-5 265-pound is a quick-twitch athlete who has a solid get-off and quick hands at the point. His rush plan and stride work hand-in-hand, and he uses his length to his advantage. He’s a versatile edge rusher who can play as a 4-3 end or 3-4 OLB.

People may know the edge rusher from Last Chance U. The senior edge rusher made the best of his chance. He could hear his name called to a playoff team like the New England Patriots.

The NFL may end up making a mistake if they let Johnson fall this far. They need a dynamic pass rusher who can bolster their defense — Johnson is that guy. Make no mistake about it Bill Belichick can and will use Johnson as a weapon in multiple fronts.
