Chargers steal top EDGE in 2022 NFL mock draft

player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Jermaine Johnson. 13. EDGE. Florida State. 17

17. Los Angeles Chargers: Jermaine Johnson, EDGE, Florida State

Jermaine Johnson took a long route to the NFL. He was once a JUCO standout, then became a rotational player for the Georgia Bulldogs. He finally became a starter for a big-name program in 2021 when he transferred to Florida State and he did not disappoint.

Johnson racked up 70 tackles and 11.5 sacks for the Seminoles as he held up well against the run in addition to his pass-rushing prowess. Here, he lands with the Los Angeles Chargers where they want to find someone who could start opposite Joey Bosa.

With Johnson and Bosa together, this defense could become a real problem — and the Chargers will need that if they ever want to slow down Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs.

WR. 18. player. 15. Pick Analysis. Arkansas. Treylon Burks. Scouting Report

18. New Orleans Saints: Treylon Burks, WR, Arkansas

Michael Thomas has hardly seen the field in the past two seasons and there were also concerns about him wanting the New Orleans Saints to trade him while he was out. There’s more optimism now that he will return but that started before Sean Payton retired.

Throw in the fact that this team is over $70 million in the red and there’s still a chance Thomas could be gone. Even if that’s not the case, they need more help at receiver so adding Treylon Burks from Arkansas feels like the right move.
