With free agency just around the corner, these three potential options make a lot of sense for the Steelers to target.

The Steelers will have more cap space than usual to work with in 2022. They’ll need it, as this team has a plethora of holes to fill between now and the start of the next season. While not a team that ever makes a huge splash in free agency, expect Pittsburgh to still spend their money aggressively in free agency.

Here are three pending free agents the Steelers must target this offseason.

Steelers must target James Daniels

A name that seems to fly under the radar, James Daniels has quickly developed into one of the better interior linemen in the league. He entered the NFL as a center and guard prospect out of Iowa, and the Bears felt confident in his projection to make him a second-round pick. He hasn’t disappointed, as he has quickly developed into one of the better interior linemen in the league.

Daniels boasts a strong history of consistent play, and now he hopes to get paid properly for his work. The Bears will certainly try to keep him, but if he wants to test free agency and isn’t offered the franchise tag, he could end up walking. He will be a hot commodity around the NFL if this transpires.

The Steelers fielded one of the worst offensive lines in the league last season. While they have some young talent that needs to develop, interior guys like Trai Turner and Kendrick Green aren’t locks to start next season (Turner is a free agent, Green has underwhelmed as a third-round pick). Daniels would be a plug-and-play guard for a team that desperately needs one. The Steelers will have to make a play for him if he hits free agency.
