Hall of Fame snub No.4: Patrick Willis, Linebacker, San Francisco 49ers

If you lined up against Patrick Willis, you knew all too well that you were not going to have success against him. Furthermore, while he lost a Super Bowl ring to Baltimore, Willis is still one of the greatest linebackers in the league’s history and was arguably the best at his position when he was playing.

On a bright note, a 49er did make the Hall of Fame in Bryant Young.

In his career, Willis, taken out of Ole Miss, finished with over 900 total tackles, 41 quarterback hits, and over 20 sacks. He was also an NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2007, led the league in tackles twice (07, 09), a member of the 2010s All-Decade Team, and a seven-time Pro Bowler. A quality resume.

Willis only played eight seasons, so maybe that could have contributed to the missed opportunity. But for those who watched football in the 200’s, they know he’s one of a kind and will rightly get his place in Canton when the time arrives. It should be soon, though, because he has earned it.
