2022 NFL quarterback predictions for the AFC West

Las Vegas Raiders: Trade for Jimmy Garoppolo

This seems like a satirical jab at Josh McDaniels, but I promise it’s not.

I hold Jimmy Garoppolo in much higher regard than many, and I think the situation for him in Las Vegas is very intriguing.

Of course, there are ties to McDaniels who was once Garoppolo’s offensive coordinator with the New England Patriots.

McDaniels and other Patriots assistants have proven through the years that they like to get their guys at the QB position, regardless of what kind of situation they are stepping into.

I can see the Raiders as being a pretty palatable destination for Garoppolo given his history with McDaniels and some of the weapons they have on offense like Darren Waller and Hunter Renfrow.

Garoppolo has helped the 49ers reach the NFC Championship twice in the last three seasons, and although winning is a team stat, Garoppolo has stretches of play that certainly contribute to his team getting into the NFL’s final four. He’s not just riding the coattails of a dominant defense, by any means.

With the right coaching and game-planning, Garoppolo is an effective QB. With the projected trade of Derek Carr earlier in this piece, this is the direction I would see the Raiders heading.
