2022 NFL Free Agency: Top 25 wide receivers available
Top 25 NFL free agency WRs No. 2: Chris Godwin, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
There’s no “good” time for NFL players to suffer ACL tears.
However, the timing of Chris Godwin’s knee injury this past season is about as bad as it gets.
Odell Beckham Jr. has him beat, but Godwin may also have a tough time being ready for the start of the 2022 NFL season.
Godwin had successful surgery in early January on his knee, but it certainly is something that has caused a bit of haziness with his future.
Will some team still pay Godwin a big-money contract in free agency or is he destined to return to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on the franchise tag…again?
I’m not sure the Bucs are really in a position to do that but like I said before, teams in the NFL are good at manipulating the salary cap.
Godwin seems like a long-term player for the Buccaneers but does he want to sign there long-term without the quarterback position solidified?
With just over $3 million in cap space heading into NFL free agency, can the Bucs really afford to tag Godwin again with the price set to go up on that option by a lot?
Injury and all, it’s possible that Godwin is the best overall player to become available on the 2022 NFL free agent market.
