Dallas Cowboys Round 1 option No. 3: Tyler Linderbaum, C, Iowa

Every year, the Dallas Cowboys offensive line seems to get hit with accolades including top rankings on Pro Football Focus as well as Pro Bowl visits. In fact, PFF even put four of the Cowboys five starting offensive linemen in their top-101 ranking recently.

However, when watching this team play, it’s hard to see that value. Perhaps it’s all about continuity as injuries have played a major part in the struggles recently, but even when the full line is healthy, it feels like they do more harm than good as costly penalties and untimely whiffed blocks kill several drives — especially when they get to the red zone.

For that reason, it would make a lot of sense to go after Tyler Linderbaum from Iowa, who would replace the only member of the line not to make the top-101, Tyler Biadasz. Of course, Biadasz isn’t a terrible player and they do need a guard more than a center with Connor Williams hitting the open market, but the thing about Linderbaum is that he would still be an upgrade over Biadasz and he’s hands-down the best center in the class.

Since losing Travis Frederick to retirement, the Cowboys’ offensive line has lacked cohesion. Perhaps getting a player such as Linderbaum could end up proving to be the glue that brings things back together.
