2022 NFL Mock Draft: Kayvon Thibodeaux slides, Drake London rises

31. Cincinnati Bengals: Tyler Smith, OT, Tulsa
The Cincinnati Bengals proved during the Super Bowl that they need to improve their offensive line to win it all. Of course, there will be those who say they still should have gone Penei Sewell in 2021 but the truth is, they wouldn’t have gotten as far as they did without Ja’Marr Chase.
On top of that, Chase was open for what would have been a Super Bowl-winning touchdown, if Joe Burrow had one more second in the pocket. Here, they get him that one extra second, and hopefully more, as they take Tyler Smith from Tulsa.
He’s a bit younger than Bernhard Raimann who is also in consideration here and he’s also got what this line needs — a bit of an edge. He does need to clean up the penalties but if he plays with the right focus, Smith could be exactly what the Bengals line needs.
32. Detroit Lions (via Los Angeles Rams): Matt Corral, QB, Ole Miss
At No. 2 overall in this 2022 NFL Mock Draft, the Lions picked up Aidan Hutchinson to bolster their defensive line. Now back on the clock at No. 32, they use the first of two picks they got for Matthew Stafford on a new quarterback in Matt Corral.
There’s a sense that the Lions believe Jared Goff can be their guy but not bringing in any competition will be a mistake. Landing Corral here gives them someone who can push or challenge Goff and should he prove to be a capable starter, they would be able to keep him in town for at least five years thanks to him being a Round 1 pick.
