Mitchell Trubisky 4 ideal landing spots in 2022 NFL Free Agency
Mitchell Trubisky landing spot no. 2: Washington Commanders
The Washington Commanders and their fans are likely tired of the retread quarterback options.
I get it, I really do.
Unfortunately, there’s not a lavish tree full of quarterbacks ripe for the picking, and the former second overall pick Trubisky might be one of the best and most realistic options for a team like Washington.
Do the Commanders absolutely love someone in the 2022 NFL Draft class?
If they don’t it’s not like Trubisky is the only option, but you can see why he would be appealing to them. Unlike some other options this team has tried to sell the fan base on in recent years, Trubisky at least might have some longer-term upside.
He was someone else’s draft bust, but you could point to the shortcomings of Trubisky in Chicago as the fault of head coach Matt Nagy and his staff, because Nagy’s offense was not suitable for really any quarterback that lined up for him, even the ultra-talented Justin Fields this past year.
The Commanders may not want to pin themselves into any corner this year in terms of drafting somebody. They also have other holes on the roster to address.
A player like Trubisky could get the ball to Terry McLaurin and make plays himself as a runner. There are weapons in Washington and an improving offensive line.
Trubisky might not sell a bunch of jerseys with the Commanders, but he might be a worthwhile risk/reward type of option.
