2022 NFL Free Agency predictions for the AFC South

Indianapolis Colts: Teddy Bridgewater, QB (Broncos)

The Indianapolis Colts have been on the year-to-year QB plan since Andrew Luck retired, and in 2022, it looks like it may not be anything different.

Head coach Frank Reich was with the Philadelphia Eagles in the early goings of Carson Wentz’s NFL career, and after Philip Rivers decided to hang up the cleats, the Colts became a natural trade destination for the former high first-round pick.

In the 2022 offseason, it seems like the Colts are once again motivated to make a change at the QB position, and one of the top available quarterbacks in free agency is Broncos starter Teddy Bridgewater.

Although Bridgewater isn’t going to come in and make the Pro Bowl (most likely), he provides a different type of player stylistically compared to Wentz, and might be able to provide a bit more consistency and a little less volatility.

Bridgewater is coming off of the best season of his career, which to this point is not saying all that much. He had a couple of concussions in 2021 which are certainly cause for concern moving forward, but some team is going to take a chance on him with a 1-2 year contract.

The Colts seem as likely as any QB-needy team to land on Bridgewater as a bridge option, believing he can thrive in their system and limit mistakes.
