Carolina Panthers: Laken Tomlinson, OG (49ers)

Laken Tomlinson is fresh off of his fifth season in a row with the San Francisco 49ers and his first Pro Bowl appearance.

He’s about to parlay that Pro Bowl bid into a big-money contract from someone in the 2022 NFL Free Agency signing period.

Luckily for Tomlinson, there is no shortage of teams in the NFL right now that need offensive line help in a desperate way.

I thought about pairing Tomlinson with his hometown Chicago Bears, which remains a very real possibility. I also thought about sending him to a cap-rich team like the Miami Dolphins wherehe could reunite with Mike McDaniel.

Ultimately, a variety of options make sense for him, including also the possibility of just returning to the 49ers. However, I chose to send him back to the Carolinas where he played his college ball at Duke.

The Panthers are in desperation mode this offseason. They not only need to figure out their quarterback position, but they need to get an offensive line in place for him.

Tomlinson could step in and be a source of consistency for Matt Rhule’s offense right away.
