Baltimore Ravens: Tyrann Mathieu, S (Chiefs)

It has been a great run for Tyrann Mathieu with the Kansas City Chiefs, but it might be time for that pairing to come to an end.

Although I’m sure the Chiefs would love to have the Honey Badger back in the fold, they have to re-sign Orlando Brown Jr., they need pieces at receiver, and they need more talent off the edge among other things.

Still, Mathieu is kind of the heart and soul of that defense, so perhaps the Chiefs will move some other pieces around to be able to re-sign him.

If they can’t, I like the Ravens as much as any other possible destination.

Mathieu took to Twitter and said that he’d like to be the play-caller on whatever defense he goes to next, but the Ravens nearly signed Mathieu a few years ago when he signed in Kansas City, and there might be even more advocates for him in Baltimore nowadays.

Patrick Queen has expressed his interest in this over Twitter. Tony Jefferson — one of Mathieu’s teammates once upon a time with the Arizona Cardinals — would almost certainly welcome it.

Mathieu’s playing style just screams Baltimore Ravens so this might be one of the easier pairings in free agency.
