Steelers must target Adrian Amos

A name that a lot of fans should be linking to the Steelers via a trade, Adrian Amos is a great safety who consistently delivers good play as both a run defender and a coverage option. Unfortunately, due to his contract status, Amos may find himself shown the door sooner rather than later in an attempt to preserve cap space.

If he is set to be on the move, the Steelers should absolutely come calling. Terrell Edmunds is set to enter free agency and there is a real chance he finds a new team in 2022. Pittsburgh has no in-house replacement lined up either, meaning that if he walks the team will be desperate for a new starter. Amos would easily quell those concerns.

The Packers would save over $7 million if they traded Amos away, a significant chunk of change that could be used elsewhere. Meanwhile, the Steelers would get an upgrade at safety and give them a menacing tandem of Amos and Minkah Fitzpatrick.

The real question here is what kind of a deal the Packers would want. Considering they may be forced to cut him; they have little in terms of leverage for this deal. That said, Amos would likely still command a mid-day-three pick. As well, a potential player for player swap could be on the table in order for the Steelers to acquire Amos. That said, this deal makes a lot of sense for both sides.
