The New York Giants would listen if teams were calling about running back Saquon Barkley. What teams should make a move for him?

The New York Giants are willing to pick up the phone for teams calling on any number of players, including running back Saquon Barkley.

New general manager Joe Schoen acknowledged this at the Scouting Combine and it was confirmed by ESPN’s Jordan Raanan and Adam Schefter.

Although initially it seems like blasphemy to talk about trading Saquon Barkley, the former second overall pick simply has not been able to stay healthy, and trading away his cap number could free up some much-needed space to make moves elsewhere for the Giants.

Saquon Barkley could have plenty of suitors soon

Although this is already going to be Barkley’s fifth season in the NFL (in which he will count more than $7.2 million against the salary cap), he’s only 25 years old and with what he showed in his first two NFL seasons (including over 2,000 yards from scrimmage as a rookie) teams would be foolish not to throw a pick at the Giants and see just how willing they are to move on from him.

What teams are great fits for Barkley going forward? What teams could maximize his talent as a three-down back?

Part of the equation is obviously Barkley being able to stay healthy but this, for now, is just a one-year flyer kind of move with the option to tag Barkley next offseason or give him an extension in a best-case scenario.

With his upside, more than three teams should be lined up to try and trade for him, but some teams make more sense than others. Let’s take a look at three options for a Saquon Barkley trade in the coming weeks.
