Jameis Winston destination no. 3: Denver Broncos

One team to keep an eye on — like the Pittsburgh Steelers — with just about every quarterback is going to be the Denver Broncos.

The Broncos are led by general manager George Paton and his new head coach Nathaniel Hackett. Hackett comes to Denver from Green Bay where he has been part of a coaching staff that has helped Aaron Rodgers to some of the most successful years of his career.

Of course, it’s important to remember that Rodgers is not necessarily the one benefitting from his coaches as much as his coaches are benefitting from being around him, but Hackett has evolved while working for Matt LaFleur in Green Bay, no question about it.

John Elway is not making decisions in Denver anymore, a fact that seems to be lost on many fans and even analysts of the NFL.

George Paton comes from Minnesota where he and Rick Spielman did not shy away from big-time quarterback moves including trading for Brett Favre once upon a time as well as signing Kirk Cousins in 2018.

Paton has vowed to be aggressive in upgrading the QB position, but does Jameis Winston fit with this offense?

He just might.

The Broncos have hired two former Buccaneers coaches who didn’t work directly with Winston, but could certainly vouch for him one way or the other.

Offensive line coach Butch Barry and assistant offensive line coach Ben Steele were with the Buccaneers during the early years of Winston’s NFL career and are now on the Broncos’ staff.

Just like with the Steelers, Winston would be stepping into a great situation in Denver with a lot of weapons to spread the ball to, a big-time running back in Javonte Williams, and a defense that ranked in the top five last year.
