Malik Willis landing spot no. 3: Pittsburgh Steelers

If the Pittsburgh Steelers wind up drafting Malik Willis in 2022, we will look back on their interest as one of the worst kept secrets of the entire 2022 offseason.

The Steelers’ love for Willis was the talk of the 2022 Senior Bowl in Mobile, and apparently in this potential courtship, Pittsburgh has already met Willis’ parents…

You have to credit the Steelers for the depth of their background checks on Willis and other quarterbacks. It’s also been rumored that the Steelers and general manager Kevin Colbert have spent a lot of time at North Carolina watching and getting to know Sam Howell.

They’re doing some serious due diligence on Willis, finding out exactly what type of person he is and what kind of leader they would be getting at a position that absolutely requires a dynamic leader.

Joining the Steelers, Willis would be joining a team that has one of the best defenses in the league and some of the best young skill talent in the NFL as well.

Willis would be a pretty wild contrast in style of play to what Ben Roethlisberger has brought to the table, and even if this Steelers team would need to morph into a run-first team with Willis under center, they would have themselves a dynamic presence at the most important position.

The Steelers might have to trade up to get him, but they could very well be the best possible spot in terms of their roster, coaching staff, and organizational stability.
