3. Miami Dolphins add a LB through the draft

Building around Tua doesn’t just come on the offensive side of the ball. A great defense is necessary for a team looking to run the ball. The Miami Dolphins defensive scheme is complex that features a tone of blitzing and 0 coverage.

Their aggressive style helped lead the team to an 8-1 finish last season. Rumors about Xavien Howard’s departure surfaced yet again, but they need to keep him at all costs. Their front seven is solid, but their linebacker core needs help. Jerome Baker needs someone who he can rely on. A player who can play downhill and take on guards.

They should look to add a linebacker late Day 2 of the 2022 NFL draft. One player they need to have on their radar is Devin Lloyd. He should be the pick at the top of the 3rd round. He’s a downhill backer who can also drop in coverage. The Utah linebacker does a good job shedding and playing through guards. On passing downs, he’s good enough to cover, but he’s better as a blitzer.

Darrian Beavers is another take on backer who’d fit perfectly inside for the Fins. He’s more of a late Day early Day 3 prospect. They could end up trading up for a guy like him, given the lack of depth at the inside linebacking spot.
