Jordan Love trade destination no. 3: New York Giants

I think it’s fair to say, but every team in the NFC East, outside of the Dallas Cowboys, has some question marks surrounding the QB position. The one positive the Giants have had is that they have had a talented QB in their recent history.

While they have had a talented QB in their recent history, the QB they have chosen to replace him, Daniel Jones, has struggled quite a bit since he first started for the Giants.

With the QB position being such an important and valuable position, some QBs have had very little time to show if they are the guy or not, but the same can’t be said for Daniel Jones. Jones has been the starting QB for three years for the Giants and has had yet to impress.

At the start of this most recent season, Jones looked pretty good in his first few games, notably against New Orleans and Washington. Unfortunately, Jones couldn’t continue his run of good play as he looked very poor down the stretch.

One thing that makes the Daniel Jones situation and possible Jordan Love trade interesting is the hiring of Brian Daboll. Daboll of course was the offensive coordinator for the Buffalo Bills. Daboll has proved to be a high-quality player caller, but the thing that makes this all interesting is the credit given to Daboll for the development of Josh Allen.

Allen struggled early on in his career, and it seemed like taking Allen early on in the 1st round might have been a mistake, but things changed after his 2nd season. Allen went from bad QB in his 1st and 2nd season in the NFL, to a perirenal MVP in his 3rd and 4th seasons.

With Daboll now in New York, you have to imagine that part of the reason that New York hired him is because of how Allen has developed.

Jones has struggled in his three years of full playing time, but the Giants could look at Love as somebody who has barely played any NFL games, has sat behind Aaron Rodgers, and is fairly similar to Allen as somebody they could attempt potential mold into their next franchise QB.
