5 burning questions after Seahawks trade Russell Wilson to Broncos
Are the Seahawks going full-rebuild mode?
Yes, Seattle very much seems to be going into a full rebuild now that Russell Wilson is a Denver Bronco. Russ was just the first domino to fall.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports Seattle is releasing longtime linebacker Bobby Wagner. NFL reporter Evan Massey reports one of his sources say teams are calling the Seahawks about the availability of DK Metcalf and he could be had for the right price. He also implied the team is looking to find a new team for longtime wide receiver Tyler Lockett.
By the time we get to training camp, the Seahawks are going to look like an insanely different team.
Verdict: 100% rebuild mode for Seattle
Can Denver still have a successful draft after giving up all those draft picks?
The Broncos still have five draft picks in the 2022 NFL Draft and they all fall somewhere between No. 64 and No. 144. There are plenty of opportunities for Denver to add some solid contributors in that range.
Can they give Wilson some added protection on the offensive line? Can they address their holes on a defense that was +1 on the turnover ratio? They earned 19 takeaways and gave away 18 interceptions/fumbles.
Denver has been linked with bringing back longtime Bronco and current unrestricted free agent Von Miller to the team, which would be a great anchor and addition to a team that sorely needs a sage veteran presence.
If Denver can find even just one starter with their mid-to-late draft picks, it’ll be a total win. The team has Russell Wilson leading this team now, which was priority number one.
